Guitar Sessions 38: Play Jimmy Cliff’s “Sitting in Limbo”

I’ve loved Jimmy Cliff’s “Sitting in Limbo” since first encountering it in the movie The Harder They Come back when I was in high school, and then subsequently hearing the great interpretations by Jerry Garcia Band and Garcia/Grisman.

This episode of Guitar Sessions takes a deep dive into the song, starting with the original version (sorry, though, I’m not able to replicate Jimmy Cliff’s style of playing lefty on a flipped-over right-handed guitar!). And then I share my own arrangement, fingerpicked in dropped-D tuning, and perform the whole song.

In this lesson I cover the main riff and basic. On Patreon you can find a complete rundown of the song along with the downloadable lyric/chord chart and tab.
