Guitar Sessions 42: Inside the“Day Tripper” guitar riff

This episode of Guitar Sessions kicks off a new feature called Inside a Classic Riff. What better place to start than the indelible riff from the Beatles’ “Day Tripper”?

As you’ll see, the lesson goes way beyond just showing you how to play the original George Harrison riff. I also share how to play it on any chord in any key, in open position and up the neck, and I talk about what’s happening in the riff—the choice of notes and how they relate to the underlying chord. The idea is to teach not only the riff but its musical logic, in order to give you ideas that you can apply to other songs and to creating your own riffs.

On Patreon you can download complete charts/tab for the lesson, plus watch an extended video covering the full song.
