Guitar Sessions 40: Four-note scale workout

As a follow-up to my recent lesson on playing scales in thirds, here’s another scale-based exercise I find really useful. It’s great for improving the dexterity and strength of your fretting fingers, and for practicing alternate picking too, and it can definitely level up your lead and melody playing.

The idea is simple: playing four-note patterns in ascending and descending scales. In this video I run through the exercise with a G major scale in five positions.
