Guitar Sessions 31: Play Richard Thompson’s “Waltzing’s for Dreamers”

Learn to play Richard Thompson’s sad and beautiful “Waltzing’s for Dreamers” in this episode of Guitar Sessions.

I’ve always loved this song, and it’s an accessible entry into Thompson’s virtuosic style. The guitar part is in dropped-D tuning and uses hybrid picking, though you can easily adapt it to straight fingerstyle or flatpicking.

My performance is based on RT’s version, with my own instrumental break.

On Patreon you can download charts that show the chord shapes I’m using and also includes RT’s solo and interlude as played on the Amnesia record.
