Solo acoustic take on the Kinks’ “Sunny Afternoon”

I love playing the Kinks’ “Sunny Afternoon”—such a great melody, acerbically funny lyrics, and irresistible swing rhythm. My solo arrangement combines elements of Ray Davies’ acoustic guitar part with the signature bass line and a few of my own touches.

Here’s a video I recorded on my deck for Acoustic Guitar (in fall, not in summer—hence the hoodie). Read about my arrangement here. The full notation and tab appears in the January/February 2026 issue.

On Patreon I also am teaching a live workshop that runs through the song in detail.
